Sedgley was build in 1976 by the IBA for the ILR station serving Wolverhampton and the Black Country, Beacon Radio on 303metres / 990 KHz. In the early 1980s the BBC added a transmitter at this site on 828kHz, for the expanding BBC Radio Birmingham, which was renamed BBC Radio WM. This frequency now carries the BBC's Asian Network.
